The annual Miss LHS and Jr Miss LHS pageant, “Sweet Home Luverne High,” was held Saturday evening at Luverne High School.
Even with the rain pouring down all day, these lovely ladies shined on stage.
Eight ladies competed for title of Miss LHS and six for Jr. Miss LHS. The Miss LHS ladies opened the pageant with a dance number set to “Sweet Home Alabama” and made sure to look the part with their jean skirts, boots and cowboy hats. (sematext) They followed up with their evening gown individual walk and then casual wear and interview.
The interview question asked to each girl was what would they do if they could have a single day with no rules and be outrageous. Many of the girls flew all over the country doing wild and exotic things, several using dad’s credit card, which they apologized to dad for. Summer Waters had another type of answer. She said she would do the normal things that she has not been able to to do for the past year due to COVID, including hugging her loved ones.
In between the wardrobe changes for Mrs. LHS, the Jr. Miss girls performed their evening gown walk. Several entertainers graced the stage. Carlie Ann Hammonds and Emily Grace Turner with Harrison Weed performed songs for the audience. Mattie Register, Henlie Hammonds, and Jamie Morgan with Brooklyn Frazier performed dance numbers. Also, a special impromptu appearance by Brooklyn who graced the stage to play a few songs on the piano to fill extra time between wardrobe changes.
The reigning Miss LHS, Emily Grace Turner, performed her final walk while bringing tears to many eyes with her lovely pre-recorded words that played as she graced the stage.
After returning in their evening gowns, winners were announced and Miss. LHS was crowned.
