On Tuesday, November 23, the Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Office performed a high-risk warrant search at the 7000 block of Petrey Hwy at approximately 3:15 p.m.
The warrant was issued after Narcotics Investigator Pitts received information from the Luverne Police Department.
The Crenshaw County SRT team (Special Response Team), made up of county law enforcement who are SWAT certified, entered the home of Jeremy L. Baggett.
Baggett was uncooperative with law enforcement and was detained and taken into custody.
SRT discovered a large hydro growth area during the search of the property and several buildings located on the property.
The hydro growth contained 42 plants estimated at a street value of $2,000 per plant and altogether estimating a gross total approximately valued at $84,000, according to the Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Office.
Several firearms, including an AR 15 rifle, a 12 gauge shotgun, and a handgun, were also removed from the residence.
Warrants were served on Baggett for kidnapping 1st, burglary 1st, and domestic violence 3rd, according to CCSO.
After the findings during the search, new charges were added, including trafficking marijuana, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of marijuana 1st, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
“I would like to commend the SRT team on a safe and successful execution and greatly appreciate the Luverne Police Department for their assistance in providing information to complete a thorough investigation and arrest,” Sheriff Terry Mears said.
This is the biggest marijuana seizure during Mears’ time as Sheriff.
