Officers from the Luverne Police Department arrested Jerico Merrel Nickerson, 41, of Grady, on Tuesday and charged him with one count of murder.

“This was in connection with the shooting death of Marquise Lamond Randle Jr., of Luverne, that occurred on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2022,”  said Assistant Chief Mason Adcock.

Nickerson was taken to custody without incident.

“This is still an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact Luverne Police Department,” Adcock said.

On Aug. 16, the Luverne Police Department responded to a call of shots fired shortly after 9 p.m. Upon their arrival at Liptrot St., officers found Randle lying in a yard.

Randle appeared to have suffered gunshot wounds leading to his death.

Luverne Police secured the scene and began a homicide investigation.
