All Wheels Cruise-In car show raises $2,100.00 for Brantley School

Numerous vehicles were featured in the second annual All Wheels Cruise in, including four vintage Ford Broncos.

The second annual All Wheels Cruise-In car show was held Saturday on Fulton Avenue behind Brantley School.
The event opened at 8 a.m. with a prayer, followed by the singing of the National Anthem. Saturday morning’s opening ceremony brought along with it beautiful weather, and a shaded location, perfect to showcase the vehicles of all shapes, sizes, makes, and models.
Proceeds amounted to around $2,100 and were donated to Brantley School.
The event organizer, Larry Johnson, said he was happy he could help raise money for Brantley school and was proud of the turnout.
“There were definitely more people at the show this time and I am glad we topped last year’s total,” Johnson said. “It was nice seeing the community out like this and I am glad we could help a little with the school’s needs.”
Car clubs assisting with the event were Bad Boys of Brantley, Crenshaw Kool Ridz, and Andalusia Classics and Street Rods. Cars owned by members of these clubs were on display along with vehicles owned by others including residents of Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida. There were 80 cars in the show.
Vendors offered a wide variety of items, including candles, lotions, woodwork, art pieces, clothing, home decor, canned jams and jellies, metalwork, and much more.
Live music played throughout the 5-hour event and a bouncy house was on hand for children to enjoy.
Food options included fried mullet plates, fried catfish plates, homemade chicken salad plates, sausage dogs, hamburgers, hotdogs, fresh popcorn, and fresh boiled peanuts.
Over 60 door prizes were up for grabs including a fish cooker, a pop-up tent, fish and tackle, car cleaning kits, 16 envelopes containing cash, and more. There was also a 50/50 drawing.
Will Veenstra, from Canterbury, New Hampshire, and Annasarra Kofina, from Greece, were traveling back to Grinnell College in Iowa after enjoying a brief vacation in south Florida.
“We just stumbled upon the car show when our GPS routed us through Brantley,” Veenstra said. “Annasarra and I were both excited when we saw the signs and had to stop. I am from a small town of about 2,000, and I wish my hometown would do something like this.
“I am a big car guy and worked at Reed Family Automotive in Concord where they specialize in antique and vintage cars. Out of all the vehicles I worked on, there was a 1952 Cadillac Coupe Deville, which was my favorite. It was nice to see one of those here today.”
The annual Brantley All Wheels Cruise-In car show has been set for every third Saturday in August and plans are already underway for the 2023 show.
