Kirby expands offerings at new The Busy Beans location

vThe Busy Beans in Highland Home opened in a new location Jan. 15 and now offers an expanded menu of breakfast, lunch, and dessert options in addition to their nutritional tea, coffee, and ice cream drinks.
To enjoy desserts for special events, like Valentine’s Day, customers can message or call The Busy Beans owner Julia Kirby to order one of the drink shop’s newest offerings, such as this cookie cake.
Highland Home customers can stop by The Busy Beans Monday through Friday and some Saturdays to pick up lunch and a cake pop, cookie, brownies, or ice cream dessert.
The Busy Beans, a favorite small town drink shop in Highland Home, opened in a new location Jan. 15 at 18894 Montgomery Highway, just up the road from their original spot across from Highland Home School.
Owner Julia Kirby, who opened the shop in November 2021, said the decision to relocate came out of a desire to expand menu offerings.
“We just wanted to be able to offer more things and be able to expand our business,” Kirby said. “We wanted to offer more for the community, more than just the tea.”
Along with the gourmet teas, coffees, milkshakes, and ice-cream already on the menu, The Busy Beans now also boasts breakfast and lunch as well as baked treats for a sweet snack or a special occasion.
“We offer breakfast and lunch,” Kirby said. “We do muffins, bagels, ham or turkey sandwiches, hot dogs, and sausage dogs. We also do cake pops, brownies, and cookies. We can make cookies and desserts for events. All people have to do is message us and ask.”
Local resident Kristen Ott said her whole family enjoys the shop’s latest menu options.
“My kids love the brownies and cake pops,” Ott said. “I love the breakfast because after dropping the kids at school I know I can go and get a good breakfast and an awesome drink whether it be coffee or tea!”
In the previous location, The Busy Bean drew customers among parents, teachers, and children at the school. While the current location is just a little farther, Kirby said business has been good and she offers delivery for those who cannot stop by.
“I think customers have responded well,” Kirby said. “They seem to really like the new location and products. Everybody has enjoyed all the new things we have to offer. We deliver sometimes for teachers to allow them to be able to get things from us. But, for the most part, they come over here regardless.”
Ott continues stopping by the shop’s new location and shares Kirby’s new menu items on social media.
“I love The Busy Beans’ new location,” Ott said. “Julia has done a great job making the place look absolutely adorable and it makes people feel very welcomed. I can’t say enough great things about this place and can’t wait to see what the future holds for the busy beans!”
The shop operates Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Kirby opens up some Saturdays too from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.
