Bread That Saves the Soul

Satan really believed that he had Jesus at His weakest point. He believed that he could get Jesus to turn stones to bread at his command, because Jesus was beyond hungry after 40 days of no food.
But Jesus, as He always did, turned to the scriptures. He said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God’ (Matthew 4:4). He quoted Deuteronomy 8:3.
John records this interchange between Jesus and His disciples, “Then Jesus said to them, ’Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” Then they said to Him, “Lord, give us this bread always.’ And Jesus said to them, ’I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst’ (John 6:32-35).
The spiritual “bread” found in the word of God reveals to us the Son of God and His will for us in our daily lives.I like to eat too much, but I hope my main desire is for that bread that will save my soul.
I want to personally invite you to join us for the “breaking” of the spiritual bread beginning this Sunday with our Gospel Meeting at the Highland Home Church of Christ. Please see “Local Briefs” for the date and time.
