More Than I Can Handle?

Everyone has those days when they feel down. Maybe they are tired, and some things have gone wrong, or haven’t gone at all, and they feel down. Then, as they contemplate their feelings, they feel guilty for feeling down and they think about all the blessings God has given them.
People can look at others and realize how truly minor their problems or struggles are compared to so many who are hurting. All around are people who are fighting terrible diseases, or are watching a loved one, sometimes a child, who is suffering. Some have lost loved ones and are dealing with all the ramifications of that loss. Our own problems seem so minor when compared to that.
The Bible teaches in 1 Corinthians 10:13 that no temptation comes our way that is beyond what we can bear. God provides a way of escape if we will only look for it. But I believe that applies to being tempted as well.
I think this verse does not support the common concept that “God won’t give you more than you can handle.” Actually, I believe that we as humans will often face more than we can handle. I believe that it is important that we understand that we cannot handle many things alone, but that also we don’t have to.
“Therefore, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” (I Peter 5:6-7).
We need to recognize our need for God’s care, and realize He does care.
So, in those low moments when you feel down, bring your mind back to the God Who cares. Cast it on Him, pray to Him, and find peace in His comfort.
