The Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Office, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), and Central Alabama CrimeStoppers are requesting the public’s help with providing additional information regarding the death of an Andalusia man.
On Sep. 14, Crenshaw County law enforcement was notified of what appeared to be an unidentified male lying in the roadway on the 19000 block of Andalusia Highway in Crenshaw County. Reports were confirmed when units arrived on scene to find 25-year-old Joseph Cody Wayne Williamson of Andalusia, who had suffered life-threatening injuries.
Williamson was transported to the Andalusia Hospital for treatment, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased the following morning.
According to Crenshaw County Lt. Chris Stewart, Williamson’s body has been transferred to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science in Montgomery to determine cause of death. No further information is available at this time.
Crenshaw County Sheriff Terry Mears urges community members to come forward with any relevant information they may have in connection with Williamson’s untimely death.
“The investigation into the incident is still ongoing,” Mears said in a Sep. 18 media release. “Law enforcement authorities are seeking the assistance of the public in gathering information that could shed light on the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event.”
