In this week’s installment of our “Pet of the Week” feature, we introduce you to Dixie, a charming Bulldog mix with an inspiring tale of resilience. Dixie is 3-year-old canine and belongs to Brett Roeten of Greenville. Dixie is a testament to the unwavering love and determination that defines the bond between pets and their owners.
When Dixie was just a little puppy she was hit by a car. After rushing her to the doctor, the Roeten’s were given two options: an expensive hip surgery at Auburn or the chance to let Dixie’s injury heal on its own. The vet emphasized that without surgery, Dixie might not regain full mobility. It was a challenging decision to make, but the Roetens allowed Dixie’s injury to heal naturally.
Against all odds, she is just as energetic as she was before the accident, exhibiting a love for running and jumping that knows no bounds. Dixie’s vibrant spirit shines through as she continues to run and jump with gusto, proving that sometimes, love and time are the best healers.
Her favorite indulgence? Delicious beef jerky treats that make her tail wag with joy.
