ITAC donates bicycle for area children

Eustollia Martinez is recognized as ITAC Alabama LLC Team Member of the Month.
ITAC Alabama LLC, formerly SMART Alabama, made its annual donation to benefit area children Friday. The metal stamping and robotic welding facility in Luverne brought 25 children’s bicycles to the Crenshaw County Department of Human Resources (DHR) office in Luverne, making Christmas just a little merrier for children in need.
Gary Sport, ITAC general manager, said the company’s leaders and employees enjoy being good corporate citizens to Crenshaw County communities.
“We are under new ownership and moving in a new direction,” Sport said. “We delivered 25 bicycles to DHR for Operation Santa Claus. That’s something we always do. We line them all up in the lobby in front of the Christmas tree.”
On Dec. 1, the facility also recognized Eustolia Martinez as its December Team Member of the Month. Martinez, who works second shift at the plant, was nominated for the award for the positive impact she makes on her team.
“She makes the difference [between] a good day and an excellent day,” her nomination reads. “She always has candy for you, or a smile. She is a team maker and brings everyone together.”
