Greta Fay Jordan
Greta Fay Jordan, 88, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 10. A graveside service for Greta was held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13 in the Jordan Family Cemetery in Helicon with her nephew, Mike Dunn, delivering the eulogy and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Greta lived in Walker County until 1947 when her parents, Asa and Velma Jackson, relocated their family and settled in Highland Home. She graduated from Crenshaw County High School (now Highland Home School) and married within the year. She and her husband, John Jordan, lived and raised their children in Bradleyton. After John’s death in 1980, Greta began a 20-year career with ALFA Insurance working in the Luverne office and later several Montgomery offices.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Jordan; her grandson, Zachary Cosby; sons-in-law, Wayne Cosby and Jeffrey Vinzant; and parents, Asa Irvin and Velma Wilson Jackson. She is survived by her children, Richard (Judy) Jordan, Ann Cosby Vinzant, and Barbara (Donald) Flack; four grandchildren, Kerry (Stephen) Wilson, Jonathan (Lindsay) Jordan, Sara (Josh) Corbin, and Jessie (Jesse) Patrick; seven great-grandchildren, Blake and Blain Wilson, Brody Jordan, Brendan, Ava, and Ben Corbin, and Caroline Patrick; siblings, Ted Jackson, Jean Jordan, Letha Arnold, Frances Smith, and Kenneth (Grace) Jackson; and a host of nieces & nephews.
Active pallbearers were Delana Fine, Blake Wilson, Blain Wilson, Jonathan Jordan, Brody Jordan, and Brendan Corbin.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Highland Home Volunteer Fire Department at PO Box 99 Highland Home, 36041, the Children’s Center Adult Program at P.O. Box 3098, Montgomery, AL 36109, or one’s favorite charity.
