At South Ridge Winery, guests were able to test their knowledge in a night of Trivia Saturday, with prizes going home to the top winners from the event.

On June 15, attendees gathered outside the winery’s store alongside trivia company Top Trivia, an electronic digital game company based in Enterprise

“A lot of people say they won’t play trivia because they don’t think they’re very good at it,” said Brian Crowe, owner of Top Trivia. “I say ‘well, you won’t know that unless you try.’ So come out and try it. Don’t be so hard on yourself, and don’t take yourself too seriously.”

Crowe started Top Trivia a few years ago, after attending a trivia event organized by another company. After a while, Crowe and his family moved to Alabama where he started his own company.

Now, Crowe hosts events like the one at South Ridge Winery across Alabama in Dothan, Ozark, Enterprise and Luverne.

“I was sitting in a trivia game one night and I was answering horribly, but I saw how much the how much fun the host was having, and so I went over and talked to the host and said, ‘Hey, how can I do this?’” Crowe said. “It’s really something that’s very therapeutic and makes me happy.”

During the game, attendees used their phones to sign in and answer questions through a trivia app. On the app, attendees could play alone, or work together in teams.

Announced by Crowe, the questions during trivia covered a wide variety of subjects from sports, to pop culture to history and fun facts. Additionally, bonus rounds included speed rounds to name songs and match voice actors to well-known characters such as Bugs Bunny or Homer Simpson.

“It’s fun and it’s a good way to meet people in the community in the surrounding areas,” said Tonya Pippin, one of the owners of South Ridge Winery. “ I think that it’s neat for people to come around and it’s clean fun.”

During the event, attendees were able to purchase pizzas and charcuterie boards inside South Ridge Winery, as well as different wines and new items such as the wine float and barbecue pizza.

After five rounds of trivia, the top three winners were announced, and received their prizes from South Ridge Winery. Prizes included a basket of wine-related items and a wooden charcuterie board.
