David Franklin Williams

David Franklin Williams, 86, of Huntsville, passed away Wednesday, June 19. Born in Luverne, Mr. Williams was the beloved husband of Mary Fennell, and father of three sons, Dan (deceased at age 6), Richard and John. He graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Engineering degree, Magna Cum Laude. He was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army during the Cuban Missile crisis, narrowly missing his role as a paratrooper – forward observer. David was employed by Boeing and other companies in Huntsville, making an important contribution to the space program.

Other survivors include his sister, Mrs. Nancy Petrey and brother, Ben Williams.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Perry Petrey officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
