The 122nd annual Horn family reunion will take place on July 21 at the Glenwood Community Center. The event is set to begin at 11 a.m. and will conclude around 3:30 p.m. A brief business meeting will be held at noon, followed by lunch at approximately 12:30 p.m. After the business meeting and special recognitions conclude the event.
In an age where face-to-face connections are becoming increasingly rare, family reunions offer a unique opportunity for families to reconnect, share stories and oral histories, celebrate their heritage and connect with the past. The Horn family understands this importance and has maintained their family reunion tradition for over 120 years.
Relatives and descendants of Richard Whitehead Horn and Rebecca Cox Horn, as well as friends of the family, are encouraged to attend. Bringing a side dish or food item is not required but is welcomed. The Horn family reunion’s history dates back to 1903 when it was first held at the historic Horn Shelter in Glenwood. The annual gathering, traditionally held on the third Sunday in July, is recognized as the oldest consecutive family reunion in Alabama history.
