Pet of the Week – Rascal
Published 12:56 pm Thursday, August 8, 2024
This week, Crenshaw Animal Clinic is delighted to honor Rascal, a 13-year-old Shih Tzu, as the Pet of the Week. Rascal, who belongs to Lisa Motes of Petrey, holds a special place in his family’s hearts.
Originally from Pennsylvania, Rascal belonged to Motes’ grandparents. They loved the pooch so much and when he was under anesthesia for his neuter surgery, they had his AKC registration number tattooed on his belly. This was before microchipping but they wanted to be sure they never lost their precious fur baby. After the passing of Motes’ grandparents, Rascal relocated to Alabama to live with Motes and has been a cherished member of the family ever since, eagerly greeting them each time they come home.
Although Rascal is getting a little long in the ears, he still enjoys playtime as if he were a pup. His favorite game is tearing up paper, a pastime he engages in with youthful enthusiasm. Rascal loves to sleep almost as much as he loves eating, with bacon being his favorite treat. He knows a few simple commands, including sit and shake. At night, Rascal can be found resting peacefully in his own cozy bed, sometimes snuggling with his feline sister, Kitty.
