The Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Department requested the community’s help to identify a person of interest in a robbery investigation.
Deputies received a call around 9 p.m. the evening of Monday, Sept. 2, reporting a theft at the Dollar General in Rutledge. Upon arrival, deputies contacted the store’s manager who described an unidentified black male wearing a black hoodie and jeans. According to Chief Investigator Chris Stewart, the man allegedly entered the store, waited up front for a short period of time before he stole some property, assaulted the manager and fled from the business.
“No injuries occurred,” Stewart said. “We need your help identifying a suspect wanted for robbery in the third degree and fourth degree theft of property.”
Since the robbery, Luverne citizens have reported seeing a man fitting the suspect’s description, but none have been able to identify the man. Stewart said witnesses report seeing a silver sedan leaving the scene, but it is not clear whether the suspect is driving or reading in the vehicle.
“Your assistance is crucial in helping us keep our community safe,” Stewart said. “If you have any information regarding the suspect’s identity or whereabouts, please contact us immediately. Any detail, no matter how small, could be the key to solving this case. Your support and vigilance are greatly appreciated as we work together to bring justice and maintain safety for everyone.”
Anyone with information regarding the robbery suspect should call the Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Office at (334) 335-4850.
