The Crenshaw County Chamber of Commerce officially welcomed Old Gin Creek, Brantley’s newest grocery store, to the community with a ribbon-cutting ceremony held Friday. Old Gin Creek, a family-owned business, is set to follow the celebration with an exciting Willy Wonka-themed grand opening extravaganza on Saturday, Oct. 5.

The celebration will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring cash giveaways, golden tickets, games, door prizes, special sales throughout the day and more.

The family-owned grocery store promises high-quality foods, friendly service, and competitive prices. The store, which held a soft opening on Aug. 28, has already garnered attention as a community hub.

According to Hunter Royal, owner of Old Gin Creek, the store prides itself on providing high-quality foods, friendly service and great prices.

“We really appreciate your business and your friendship,” Royal said. “We know that you have many options for food purchases and want you to know that we’re working hard each day to continue to earn your business.”

Royal emphasized the benefits of shopping locally, citing economic impact, job creation, and nurturing the community as key reasons why Old Gin Creek is more than just a grocery store — it’s a part of the Brantley family.

Old Gin Creek offers a wide variety of products, including everyday essentials, specialty items, and farm-fresh produce. The store also boasts a Creek Café and an “Outdoors & More” section, featuring hunting supplies, bait and more. Additionally, Old Gin Creek will soon launch a rewards program with digital coupons available through an app.

Old Gin Creek is more than just a grocery store, locals said; it also features a full-service meat department, which offers Braveheart steaks, led by Brantley native Jeff Sasser. A familiar face to many, Sasser has returned to the local grocery scene, eager to offer fresh, high-quality meats sourced from a competitive national wholesaler.

“Having the best meat department in Crenshaw County is our goal,” Sasser said. “We’ve built a solid crew, and we’re ready to serve the community with top-notch products. If you are looking for something and we don’t have it, let us know and we will do our best to get it.”

In addition to the grand opening festivities, visitors can meet “Big Jim,” the Conecuh River Sasquatch statue and a local legend who stands as a symbolic figure at the store. Customers are also encouraged to check their mailboxes for flyers detailing sales and promotions.

Old Gin Creek is openMonday – Saturday from 5:30 am to 9:00pm, closed on Sunday.
