Old-time Alabama Independent School Association (AISA) rivals, the Chambers Academy Rebels and the Crenshaw Christian Academy (CCA) Cougars, met for the 28th time on the gridiron field Friday with the Rebels coming out on top as they steamrolled the Cougars 44 to 14. The loss was the Cougars’ fourth in a row.

The Rebels completely dominated CCA and built a 37-point halftime lead. Chambers scored 23 points in the opening quarter under the offensive output of quarterback Landon Hand, running back Tyson Hewitt and running back Buster Coker. Fourteen more points were added by Hewitt in the second quarter and wideout Ricky Brooks helped build the five-touchdown lead going into the locker room at halftime

Backup quarterback, seventh grader Cohen Hand scored the final touchdown for Chambers. CCA got on the board with a touchdown by tailback Jake Lawrence in the third quarter and a fourth-quarter score by Dalton Jordan closed the gap. As the horn sounded, Chambers prevailed 44-14.

Chambers now stands at 8-1 overall and 4-0 in AISA 3A Region 1 play. They will close out the 2024 regional season as they hit the road to play Abbeville Christian on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Cougars fall to 4-and-5 overall and 2-2 in a 2A AISA region play. They will be at home as they host the Valiant Cross Warriors. Kickoff for both teams is set for 7 p.m. Friday.
