Crenshaw County voter turnout surpasses 59%

Residents of Crenshaw County made their voices heard in the Nov. 5 general election, with 6,503 of the 10,851 registered voters (59.93%) turning out at the polls. Local and statewide races, along with the presidential election, brought significant engagement, with the final tallies reported late Tuesday evening.
According to Crenshaw County Probate Judge William A. Tate and the county’s election team, results reflected a full count from every polling location and were published by the Alabama Secretary of State. Official results can be reviewed by visiting https://www.sos.alabama.gov/alabama-votes .
Local Races
The Crenshaw County Board of Education had two contested seats and one unopposed seat. Bry Findley won the District 1 seat with 56.3% of the vote, defeating Morris May Jr., who received 43.4%. In District 3, Forrest Cannon Albritton, running unopposed, was elected with 83.9% of the votes. The District 3 election saw 159 write-in votes, taking up 16.01% of votes. LaFreda Daniels Griffin secured a decisive victory for the District 5 seat with 71.72% of the votes over Raymond Franklin’s 25.68%.
Two other local officials, Crenshaw County Circuit Clerk Jeannie Gibson and Probate Judge William Ashley Tate, both ran unopposed and retained their positions.
State Board of Education
Jackie Zeigler retained her District 1 seat on the State Board of Education in an uncontested race, receiving 98.9% of the vote, with 1% going to write-in candidates.
Presidential and Congressional Races
Crenshaw County voters heavily favored Donald J. Trump in the presidential race, with Trump receiving 77.11% of the county’s votes, while Kamala D. Harris, the Democratic candidate, garnered 22.44%.
Nationally, Trump was declared the winner with 277 electoral votes.
For the U.S. House District 2 race, Shomari Figures emerged victorious over Republican challenger Caroleen Dobson, winning 54.5 % of the votes.
Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice and Statewide Amendments
In the race for Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice, Republican Sarah Stewart defeated Democrat Greg Griffin with a commanding 66% of the votes. Alabama voters also approved Statewide Amendment 1, which transfers land control to the Franklin County Board of Education, with an estimated 74% voting in favor by around 10 p.m.
