Barbara Ann Godwin, 82, a resident of Brantley, passed away peacefully at Luverne Health and Rehabilitation on Saturday, Dec. 14. A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at a later time.

Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was simply incredible at everything she did. There is no job more important than creating a loving and safe home within which to raise your children and Barbara absolutely excelled in that regard. She not only kept a beautiful home and yard, but she also kept the books for her husband’s logging company (where OCD tendencies definitely came in handy). Barbara was also an absolute wiz in the kitchen because there was absolutely nothing that she cooked that wasn’t just heavenly. She was also extremely creative both with her sewing and quilting as well as her gorgeous flowers she so lovingly tended.

When she wasn’t working as hard as humanly possible, she also enjoyed traveling to spend time with her beloved family. Her marriage to Billy was the kind of partnership that was worth envying because they worked so well together, from running his business to her canning all the bountiful vegetables he grew in his garden. They adored their growing family to whom she was both “Grandmama” and “Granna.” Like most grandmothers, the name wasn’t important, just the love! She was also a long time and much-loved member of Spring Hill South Baptist Church with her lively and outgoing spirit. Words cannot really express just how important she was to the foundation of her family nor how much she will be missed by all those who knew and loved her so dearly.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Billy Wayne Godwin; parents, Joe and Ruth Senn Warrick and brothers, Donny Warrick and Edward Warrick.

She is survived by her children, Barbie (Jeff) Register and Shan (Haley) Godwin; grandchildren, Jayden (Zachary) Powell, Kamryn Ramer, Grey Godwin, Laken (Jacob) North, Halee (John) Evans and Jeffrey (Emily) Register; great-grandchildren, Everlee,  Lynlee and Rylee Evans, Hollis and Collier Register and Ryland, Reeves, and Rowan North and Ellis Powell; brother, Joey (Debra) Warrick and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
