School board honors December students achievers

The Crenshaw County Board of Education (CCBOE) recognized three outstanding scholars as the December 2024 Students of the Month during their Dec. 18 meeting. Brantley School’s August Ford, Highland Home School’s Regan Burrage and Luverne School’s Hunter Stroud were honored for their academic achievements and exemplary character.

August Ford — Brantley High School

August Ford is the daughter of Candril Marshall.

“August is a very responsible and thoughtful student,” said her anatomy teacher, Tammy Sims. “Everything she does, she does with a smile. August is incredibly respectful and always brings positivity to the classroom.”

Regan Burrage — Highland Home School

Regan Burrage, the daughter of Tyler Shipp and David McGough, was recognized for her self-motivation and passion for healthcare. Tabitha Bryan Gary, health science instructor at  Crenshaw County Career Academy, highlighted Burrage’s determination and work ethic. 

“Regan is a student who is self-motivated and gives 100% in everything she does,”said Gary. “She is dependable and looks forward to her bright future in healthcare.” 

Hunter Stroud — Luverne High School

Hunter Stroud, the son of Chad Stroud and Shantell Mallory Stroud and the grandson of Kimberly Defee Stroud, was commended for his leadership and positive attitude. Heather Sanders, Luverne School resource teacher, spoke highly of Stroud.

“Hunter is an amazing young man,” said Sanders. “He takes on various daily responsibilities with enthusiasm and always with a smile on his face. He is an excellent role model for our younger students and exemplifies the spirit of a true servant’s heart.”
