Nearly 30 Crenshaw County Schools’ students have taken a major step toward career success by earning excavator certification through Lurleen B. Wallace Community College’s Workforce Development program. In partnership with the Alabama Community College System’s (ACCS) Skills for Success initiative, the training equips students with in-demand skills for the modern workforce.
Despite challenging weather, their completion of the program gives them one more tool to ensure they are ready to work after high school. College and Career Coach Haley Beasley Kilcrease emphasized the value of certification, noting it signals expertise and ambition to employers, while also boosting career prospects and lifetime earnings.
In addition to excavator training, ACCS offers various certifications including construction, fiber optics, trucking, food and beverage services and more. free of charge to both students and adults. To learn more, visit innovation.accs.edu.
