A brand-new addition to Luverne’s recreational scene, The Back 9 recently opened behind Maggie’s Coffee House in downtown. Featuring state-of-the-art golf simulation technology, this indoor golf center is set to become a go-to destination for golf enthusiasts and beginners alike.

Local golfer Cooper Layton, a senior at Brantley School and a future Shelton State golfer on a full-commitment golf scholarship, is among those who are thrilled about the new facility.
“I’m excited to have a place like this,” said Layton. “It is fun and great for practice. It’s for fun or to work on something specific. The Pebble Beach course is a lot of fun! The setup at The Back 9 tells you about your swing, so it’s great practice and really helps you improve.”
The Back 9 boasts two high-tech SkyTrak virtual golf bays and a putting practice area, all designed to elevate one’s golf skills.
Layton isn’t alone in his praise. Weekly visitor Jason Sullivan emphasized how much the facility has improved his game.
“Getting these wedges dialed in saves me strokes,” Sullivan said. “That, plus making more putts, has really helped me improve.”
