Luverne Garden Club awards poster contest winners

In celebration of 80 years of wildlife prevention, the Luverne Garden Club sponsored the 2025 Smokey the Bear and Woodsy the Owl Poster Contest. Students in the third grade at Luverne Elementary School and Crenshaw Christian Academy were given the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of wildlife prevention through original drawings of Smokey the Bear and Woodsy the Owl.
The posters of Abigail Bowen (Smokey the Bear) from Crenshaw Christian Academy, daughter of Kevin and Rachel Bowen, and Aryah Beltran (Woodsy the Owl) from Luverne Elementary, daughter of Juan and Lindsey Beltran, were chosen as local winners.
The students did a great job on their posters and both were submitted to the Garden Club of Alabama for further competition. The Luverne Garden Club appreciates the cooperation of the schools, the teachers, Sandy Owens from CCA and Leanne Faulkner at LES, for allowing us into their classrooms and Shea Simmons at LES for helping us with scheduling.
