Meet Me At The Cross

If you have read these articles over the last few months, first of all I thank you for reading them. You have probably noticed in reading them a common theme throughout these articles: meet me at the cross. The divinely inspired Apostle Paul penned these words, “And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified” (1 Corinthians 2:1-2). Again, to the churches of Galatia he states, “But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world” (Galatians 6:14).
As we bow down at the foot of the cross, we glance upward in our mind’s eye and see One who is weary and wounded. Yet we know He does it for us. “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed” (1 Peter 2:24).
We also see blood on this dying body. There will be blood running down His face from the crown of thorns that had been beaten into His head. He cannot do anything about it as he hangs helplessly with bloodied hands outspread and nailed to the cross. We see the bloodstains on the unfinished wood of the cross as He breaks open the severe wounds from the beating that He took every time He stretches up to breath. We ultimately see the puddle of blood that soaks into the soil below the cross as water and blood pour out of His pierced side, showing He has died from a ruptured heart.
So, I will ask you every week, please meet me at the cross as we submit ourselves in obedient faith to Him Who died for us!
