An inmate was recovered late Monday evening after escaping from the Crenshaw County jail.
At approximately 4:05 p.m. Crenshaw County residents received a Code Red alert about the escape. The alert identified the escapee as Tyler Garner, a 19-year-old white male, who had escaped from the Crenshaw County Jail at around 1:40 p.m.
“Garner was wearing orange pants and a white t-shirt,” the message stated. “His direction of travel is currently unknown, but it is believed he may have headed toward Rutledge on foot. K-9 and air support have been deployed to assist in his capture. If you see someone matching this description, please do not approach him, as he is considered dangerous. Call 911 immediately if possible. Thank you.”
Garner was arrested on June 11 by Brantley Police Department Assistant Chief Drew Morgan shortly after the Maple Street shooting, which left a juvenile in critical condition. According to Assistant Chief Morgan, the shooting resulted from a domestic dispute.
