Phyllis Marie Carmichael, age 79, a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother of Crenshaw County, sadly left our world on Sept. 9 after a life richly lived in service and kindness. Known for her love for adventure, whether it be a trip to the mountains or off to one of her favorite casinos, Phyllis was a beacon of light and hope in our community, touching lives through all of her many rolls. Phyllis made friends with a lot of people by working at many convenience stores in and around Crenshaw County.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, William Robert Sexton and Virgie Mae Buck Cooper and siblings Thomas Edward Sexton, Betty Frances Patterson and Elna Ruth Allen. She leaves a legacy through and survived by her son, Carlton E Carmichael (Teressa), her grandchildren, Carlton Chance Carmichael, Stephiane Marie Hall (Brett) and great-grandchildren James Lucas Hall and William Brodie Hall. Phyllis’s memory will be a guiding star for all who knew her.
In remembrance, a memorial will take place on Saturday Sept. 14 from 12 – 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Luverne, where we will honor Phyllis’s enduring impact on our community and hearts.
