Nelson, the five-year-old Sphynx cat with a personality as striking as his appearance, has been named Luverne Veterinary Hospital’s 2024 Super Summer Pet of the Season.
He accepted the award alongside his owner, Elizabeth Smith of Luverne, from his longtime veterinarian, Dr. Aletha Gamage. Gamage recently sold her practice to Luverne Veterinary Hospital, but was on hand to award the beloved feline, well known for his entertaining antics, especially his ability to open doors with skillful precision.
One of Nelson’s favorite pastimes is taking stroller rides around the neighborhood, fully aware that when his mom gets him dressed, it’s time for an outing. He also enjoys lounging in his cat tree or perched in the window, surveying the neighborhood during the day.
At night, this playful cat transforms into a cuddly companion, curling up with his beloved blanket for some cozy snuggles.
Elizabeth and Nelson’s connection is unmistakable, making this lively Sphynx the perfect choice for the Super Summer Pet of the Season.
