Board granted Antonio McClain parole

The Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles granted parole to an inmate for crimes committed in Crenshaw County.

On Oct. 2, the board voted to grant parole to Antonio Darrell McClain, 40. He is currently housed in the Alex City Work Release facility, and has served six months of a five-year term for promoting prison contraband, second degree along with a 32-month sentence for possessing/receiving a controlled substance, Class D.

McClain’s sentences stem back to convictions levied for the charges on May 8, 2024. His petition went uncontested and was granted with the special condition that he complete the Perry County Probation/Parole Reentry Education Program (PREP), wear a GPS ankle monitor and undergo drug assessment upon release.

The board heard 22 parole petitions on Oct. 2, granting six and denying 16. The board also held nine pardon hearings, granting five and denying four.
