Whiddon in custody, held without bond

Christopher Whiddon was taken into custody on Sept. 30 after a nearly-week-long search.
The Crenshaw County Sheriff requested the community’s help on Sept. 24 in locating Whiddon, 45, after he left a court-ordered rehabilitation program without permission.
According to Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Chris Stewart, Whiddon was taken into custody in Birmingham. He is a registered sex offender known to frequent areas of Butler and Crenshaw counties and was initially charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance before being mandated for rehabilitation.
“He was arrested in Birmingham,” Stewart said. “He is now in the Crenshaw County jail.”
According to District Judge Jon Folmar, Whiddon is being held without bond.
At the time of Whiddon’s disappearance, another individual, Jodie Robinson, had also left a court-ordered rehabilitation program. Robinson, 31, who faces original charges of robbery, assault and theft of property, and was taken into custody Sept. 25 by deputies on Garnersville Road in Crenshaw County.
