If you follow college football, then I am sure you are well aware of the many surprises of the 2024 season. This year has been filled with many shocking upsets. Fans have been left stunned, captivated and even heartbroken. These incredible games have impacted the rankings, and they have thrown proverbial wrenches in the road to the 2024 College Football Playoff. It’s been an exciting and eventful year for college football fans!
In reality, though, no team can win forever. It doesn’t matter what colors, conference, or team you support, there eventually comes a point in time when every team suffers a heartbreaking loss.
Nobody wins all the time. On second thought, that’s not necessarily true. In fact, you will win every time if you are on God’s team. God’s team is always victorious. God’s team will never be defeated. God’s team will never suffer a surprising upset.
No book of the Bible better demonstrates our victory in Jesus than the book of Revelation. This book depicts God’s people being victorious over all of their human foes, along with Satan, sin, and death. The victory, however, is not a triumph we accomplished.
As John recorded, “Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered” (Revelation 5:5 ESV). We owe the victory all to Jesus.
The Lord won the victory over 2,000 years ago when he defeated the devil and gave us the opportunity to be reconciled to God through him. “Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:57 ESV).
Are you on God’s team (cf. Romans 10:17; 9-10; 6:3-4, 16-18)? Friend, only one side will stand victorious forever! Choose today to be on the winning team.
