Gregory Wayne Killough, 67, a resident of Rutledge, passed away unexpectedly at Regional Medical Center of Central Alabama in Greenville on Monday, Nov. 18. A graveside service for Greg will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, November 22nd, in Chapel Hill Cemetery with Pastor Neal Kelley officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne. Family and friends will meet in the cemetery at the service time.
Greg was a proud member of the Class of 1975 of Luverne High School and later graduated from MacArthur Technical College in 1977 as a trained brick layer and stone mason. In his free time, he loved to tend to his vegetable garden and some delicious Southern home-cooking! He was also a big sports fan, especially of the Alabama Crimson Tide Football Team and Nick Saban. Besides watching football, he also enjoyed watching services along with his precious mother every week while they prayed for their family together.
Greg also enjoyed the plethora of options the TV gave him for keeping up with one of his favorite topics, politics, and don’t worry if you heard him talking to the TV, he was just explaining to them why they were wrong! No surprise there was one thing Greg always excelled at was talking, whether it was to family, friends, the TV, or strangers. While Greg was never blessed with children himself, there were few things he enjoyed more than being an uncle to his sister’s children and grandchildren and they always loved their “Uncle Greg” too. He has certainly left his loved ones far too soon and words cannot express how much he will be sorely missed by all of them.
Greg was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Killough; grandparents, Ivie and Vaudie Killough and Edgar and Lois Moore and his beloved canine companion, Gracie. He is survived by his mother, Jewel Moore Killough; sister, Jill Stallworth; niece, Brittney (Billy) Godoy; nephews, Carey (Kathryn) Stallworth and Dunk (Tori) Stallworth; seven great-nieces and nephews and a host of extended family members and friends.
