Downtown Luverne just got a little brighter and cozier with the opening of Maggie’s Coffee House, located at 81 South Forest Avenue. The café offers more than coffee — it’s a celebration of small-town hospitality, providing delicious drinks, baked goods, hearty meals and a warm, welcoming community space.
Jennifer Griffin McGough of Highland Home has become a frequent customer.
“A quick little pick-me-up to get me through the rest of my workday,” McGough said. “When Maegan tells you she can make anything, she means it. I added cinnamon today, and it tastes great. Go see her at Maggie’s Coffee House and thank me later!”
A Cozy Spot for Coffee Lovers and Foodies
Maggie’s menu caters to all cravings, with breakfast served from 8 to 11 a.m. Patrons can enjoy $6.99 breakfast sandwiches with options like bacon, egg and cheese or sausage on a croissant or bagel. For those with a sweet tooth, fresh cinnamon rolls and muffins, including banana nut and blueberry, are the perfect morning treats.
Lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring comforting soups like broccoli cheddar and tomato bisque and sandwiches crafted with fresh, homemade bread or croissants. Specialty items, like camp stew with smoked Boston butts and grandma’s cornbread, bring a touch of home-style comfort to the table.
Maggie’s even delivers for free to local schools and businesses with a minimum of two orders, making it easier than ever to enjoy its offerings. Call ahead at 334-508-2115 to skip the line or have your meal delivered straight to you.
Seasonal Favorites and Signature Creations
Known for its inventive seasonal specials, Maggie’s offers delightful beverages like the Harry Potter-inspired ButterBeer Latte, the Biscoff Cookie Frappe, and the President Elect, a refreshing mix of strawberry and blueberry with a choice of lemonade or coconut water base.
Other creative drinks, like the S’mores Toasted Marshmallow Latte, evoke nostalgic campfire vibes. Sweet treats, including weekly restocked cheesecakes and the fan-favorite Chocolate Peanut Butter Explosion Cake, are must-tries.
“If you feel overwhelmed by the coffee options, just let us know what kind of taste you prefer, and we’ll help you find the perfect coffee,” said owner Maegan Marshall. “We have everything from really sweet drinks to basic drip coffee for the everyday truck driver who wants something simple.”
More Than a Café – A Community Hub
Marshall envisions Maggie’s as more than a café — it’s a gathering place where connections are made. “Luverne can only be as amazing as the people who support it,” she explains. “When the community shops small, more businesses will follow, and downtown can become truly vibrant.”
She said the most common question she gets is where the name comes from.
“Growing up my older sister Erica always called me ‘Mags,’ and was the only person to ever do so. When she made me an aunt for the first time with my nephew Jackson, no matter how hard he tried to say Maegan it always came out sounding like ‘bacon.’ So we decided to use ‘Mags,’ which very quickly turned into Aunt Maggie.
“I decided to name the coffee shop in homage to my favorite people on the entire planet. Fun fact, that nephew is now 14 years old and now working his first job here at Maggie’s.”
From the moment customers step inside, they’re greeted with a cheerful “Welcome to Maggie’s.” Whether it’s sweetening a drink, warming a muffin, or chatting about your day, Maggie’s team is committed to creating an exceptional experience.
“Our slogan, ‘Coffee & Kindness is a brew-tiful thing,’ reflects our mission,” Marshall adds. “Customer service is my top priority, and every customer deserves to leave with a smile.”
