Winter storm warning prompts closures across Crenshaw County

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Mobile has issued a Winter Storm Warning for South Alabama, in effect until 6 a.m., along with an Extreme Cold Warning extending until 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Forecasters caution that this storm could be a historic event for Crenshaw County and surrounding areas, with snow, ice, and dangerously cold temperatures creating hazardous road conditions and widespread disruptions.

In response, many businesses, schools, and government offices in Crenshaw County have announced closures for Tuesday, January 21, and Wednesday, January 22. Officials warn that closures may be extended if conditions worsen or persist. Residents are strongly encouraged to stay home and follow guidance from local emergency management agencies to ensure their safety.
