A body that was recovered from Gantt Lake in Covington County has been identified account to local authorities.

Covington County Sheriff Blake Turman announced that the body, which was discovered by hunters in the early morning hours of Wednesday, November 24 has been identified as the body of Andalusia resident David Lee Brooks.

Brooks was found near Simms Bridge at the northern end of the lake.

The body has been taken to the Alabama Department of Forensics for further investigation into the cause of death.

The investigation to the cause of death is still ongoing.

No further details have been released.
