The  Crenshaw County Chamber of Commerce has begun taking nominations for the 2022 Citizen of the Year.

Nomination forms may be submitted to the chamber until Wednesday, January 12.

The winner, who will be announced by the chamber’s Board of Directors, will be rewarded with a banquet in the spring.

The criteria for nominating a person as Citizen of the Year are listed below:

• Civic minded
• Giving of time and heart without recognition or remuneration (money paid back for services)
• History of volunteering in a community or in the county
• Contributes to the welfare of the county or a community
• Charitable activities
• Business, church or community leader

The chamber has also announced that multiple storefront decorating competitions will take place throughout the year.

The first of these competitions is set to take place on Valentine’s Day with registration opening January 23 and closing February 5.

First prize winners will receive $25 with a certificate honoring their win, an article on the chamber website with pictures and a feature on the chamber Facebook page.

The remaining competitions are set for July 4, Halloween and Christmas.
