Shots were fired Friday night around 1 a.m. at Fountain Sports Bar and Grill on South Forest Ave. in Luverne.

Joshua Antonio Daniels was arrested for discharging a firearm in building and reckless endangerment.

Captain Mason Adcock said officers responded to the scene of an active shooting. After securing the scene, Luverne Police Department began an investigation into the incident.

Preliminary reports indicate there was a verbal altercation that became physical in the parking lot. At some point one of the parties involved in the altercation retrieved a rifle from a vehicle and proceeded to shoot the building and a vehicle in the parking lot. Another party retrieved a handgun and returned fire. The initial shooter was struck in the leg and was treated and released from Crenshaw Community Hospital.

The Luverne Police Department would to extend their thanks to Brantley Police Department and the Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with the incident.

One arrest has been made in the case an investigation is ongoing at this time.
