Brantley High School and Troy University alumnus Brad Kimbro will deliver the keynote address Sunday at Troy Dothan’s Fall Commencement ceremony scheduled at 3 p.m. in the Dothan Civic Center.

Kimbro graduated from Brantley High School in 1987. Now a Troy graduate and Dothan resident, he serves as the Wiregrass Electric Cooperative Chief Operating Officer.

As Wiregrass COO, Kimbro is a senior member of the cooperative’s management team, responsible for member services, public relations and marketing, communications, economic development, community and governmental affairs, and energy services departments.

Before rising to COO, Kimbro oversaw communications during the cooperative’s conversion to an automated metering system. He developed a unique partnership with Habitat for Humanity for weatherization of low-income homes and was instrumental in developing Alabama’s first pilot project for a community-based energy efficiency program through the state’s Department of Economic and Community Affairs.

“Working for a not-for-profit electric cooperative like Wiregrass Electric Cooperative is very satisfying to me because it is more than just a job,” Kimbro said. “It is an opportunity to truly help improve people’s quality of life.”

Kimbro also helped to establish and implement Operations Round UP Foundation Program, the cooperative’s charitable foundation.

He led the cooperative in innovative safety communication programs, enabling the cooperative to achieve a safety culture supporting the best safety results in the cooperative’s history.

“Whether through providing reliable and affordable electricity through the many various programs, products and services we have in place to help with energy efficiency needs or through improving the local area through the Cooperative’s charitable Foundation, Wiregrass Electric Cooperative has a vested interest in our local community and always places the focus on its members,” Kimbro said. “After all, ‘Just Enough, Isn’t Enough’ and going the extra mile is what Wiregrass Electric Cooperative is all about.”

Kimbro’s tenure in the electric utility industry spans over 29 years, during which he earned numerous certificates, awards, and acknowledgements for management, planning, economic development, communication, and public relations.

Kimbro and his wife Judith are parents of two daughters and grandparents to one grandchild. The couple are active members of Memphis Baptist Church in Dothan.

Over 100 students will receive undergraduate and graduate degrees during the ceremony on Saturday. Tickets are not required for the event.
