So far, 257 Crenshaw County members served by South Alabama Electric Cooperative have reported power outages resulting from late afternoon thunderstorms Wednesday. At around 6:30 p.m., most of these outages ranged between Luverne and Brantley. With concentrated pockets centering in Glenwood and the area around New Hope Church Road and South Glenwood Road.

No other utilities serving the county report outages, but local residents have experienced downed trees.

According to the National Weather Service, thunderstorms are likely to end around 6:45 p.m. At 5:36 p.m., the Crenshaw County Emergency Management Agency notified residents the National Weather Service doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Pine Apple to 10 miles southwest of Lowndes County Airport to Greenville and 3 miles north of Luverne. Movement was north at 15 miles per hour.

Hazards expected include winds in excess of 40 miles per hour and penny-sized hail. Residents may expect gusty winds which could knock down tree limbs and blow unsecured objects around.
