Local students attend 95th annual Alabama FFA State Convention

Rising Brantley School senior and member of the Crenshaw County FFA chapter, Kendal Nichols, placed second in agriculture education and was chosen to be a voting delegate. Bobby Tomberlin of Nashville, a Luverne native and former vocalist and lead guitarist in the Luverne High School’s FFA string band, hosted the state FFA string band competition and was presented with an honorary FFA State degree by Mackenzie Smith of Arab, state FFA treasurer for the North District. Tomberlin said that this award means more to him than any gold or platinum records, stating that FFA and his advisor at Luverne, Windham Pittman, was the driving force behind him getting serious about writing songs and moving to Nashville. Members of the Crenshaw County Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter recently traveled to Montgomery along with Brantley FFA students to take part in the 95th annual Alabama FFA State Convention held at the convention center inside the Renaissance Hotel & Spa in Montgomery. In addition to participating in various competitive events, the team actively involved themselves in workshops, engaged in pre-session activities alongside officers from the south district, attended trade shows, and much more.
