The Luverne Public Library’s butterfly garden has had several black swallowtail butterflies released recently. Library Director Kathryn Tomlin protected caterpillars from birds, and about 30 of them made chrysalis. Once they attached to the side of the containers, she brought them inside to protect them from ants and wasps. One emerged Thursday, and were joined by seven more Friday morning. Tomlin invites the community to drop by and see the chrysalis before they emerge. Next month, she expects to see monarch butterflies.
