First Baptist Church in Luverne is serving again this year as Crenshaw County’s Operation Christmas Child Shoebox collection site during national collection week, Nov. 13-20.

In 2022 Crenshaw County residents impacted almost 7,500 lives through OCC donations.

Operation Christmas Child, an international relief project of Franklin Graham’s Samaritan’s Purse, seeks to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world and to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Samaritan’s Purse has been collecting and delivering shoebox gifts—filled with school supplies, hygiene items and fun toys—to children worldwide since 1993. A six week discipleship program is offered for recipients who choose to participate.

OCC is an inter-denominational ministry accepting donations from individuals, churches, businesses, and civic groups. 

Donations are accepted via filled shoeboxes, items for volunteers to fill shoeboxes, and/or monetary contributions. The church will collect shoeboxes at the following dates and times:

• Nov. 13, 15, 17-18 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
• Nov. 14 and 16 from 3-6 p.m.
• Nov. 19 from 1-5 p.m.
• Nov. 20 from 8-10 a.m.
