Obituary – Larry Thomas Styron

Larry Thomas Styron, 71, a resident of Rutledge, passed away peacefully at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery on Tuesday, Nov. 21. Funeral services for Larry were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 24, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Defee officiating. Interment followed in Siloam Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Born on October 6, 1952 to Barnna O’Neal Styron and Doris Moore Styron. He grew up with his three siblings in Rutledge and became a proud graduate of Luverne High School in 1971. He then enlisted with the United States Marine Corps where he served his country with distinction for four years. Upon his discharge, Larry was happy to move back to his hometown to become a farmer for many years before going into the crane business until his retirement. Throughout his life, he was always there for his family and friends whenever they needed him, and there was no one he loved more than his children and his grandchildren.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Barnna & Doris Moore Styron, and his brother, Terry O. Styron. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Jenna (Matt) Wilcox and Chance (Whitney) Styron; grandchildren, Jax and Sailor Wilcox and Ember, Ridge, and Slade Styron; siblings, Martha (Bob) Pittman and Robbie (Francine) Styron; niece, Lauren Babcock; nephew, Walker Styron; grand-niece, Esmae Styron; four aunts; and numerous cousins, extended family members, and friends.
Active pallbearers were Tony Beck, Mike Norman, Rusty Vickery, Jim Tranum, Dick Wood, and Don Luncford.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
