Kay Cauthen Petrey, 71, a resident of Luverne, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, Nov. 28, while surrounded by her family. A graveside service for Kay was held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30, in Petrey Cemetery with Rev. Dunford Cole officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Kay was a skilled bookkeeper who enjoyed working in several different industries, from corporate to education, throughout her career. She always lived her life to the fullest with her friends and family, but there was nothing she loved more than her family. Kay absolutely adored her four girls, but she would quickly tell you the best thing they ever did was making her “Ganny” to their own children. She cherished her grandchildren as her greatest treasure on this earth, and every single one of them knew nothing but love and support from her throughout the years. Kay is leaving them precious memories that will keep her alive in their hearts and minds for many years to come.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Hubie “Tiny” and Ciddie Cauthen, and sister, Sheila Harris. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Ronald Petrey; children, Tara (Danny) McClure, Tenise (Paige) Owens, Kayla (Christopher) Smith, and Paige Petrey (Roger); grandchildren, Preston Owens, Coleman Owens, Logan Owens, Evan McCutchen, Sellers Smith, and Caroline Smith; sisters, Deborah (Poley) Trotter and Linda (Barry) Ewing; dear friend, Willie Mae Foster; and host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Active pallbearers were Preston Owens, Coleman Owens, Logan Owens, Evan McCutchen, Sellers Smith, Paige Owens, and Jimmy Norman.
