Caroline Crowe Wilkerson
Caroline Crowe Wilkerson, 75, a resident of Brantley passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, Jan. 16, while surrounded by her family. A celebration of Caroline’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, at Glenwood Baptist Church with Rev. Harry Driggers officiating.
Caroline spent 21 years whipping up the best biscuits south of the Mason-Dixon line at the Brantley Big Little Store until her retirement, leaving behind a legion of devastated longtime breakfast customers. In her free time, there was nothing she enjoyed more than tending to her garden. Her gorgeous yellow roses were her specialty and she absolutely adored being surrounded by their beauty when they were in bloom. No one was capable of working harder than Caroline was. She firmly believed in working until she just couldn’t go anymore and that included meticulously keeping her house as perfectly as possible. You could bet, too, that if Caroline went to bed to rest, her kitchen was gonna be spotless or else! She was also an ardent believer and follower of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who cherished her family with all of her heart, and she was just as fiercely treasured and cherished by all those who knew and loved her. Words cannot express how much she will be missed, but they will find comfort knowing she has received her Heavenly reward!
Caroline was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Alice Henderson Crowe, and her siblings, JM Crowe, Faye Johnson, Ethil Smith, Clarence Crowe, Bordy Crowe, and Barney Paul Crowe. She is survived by her beloved husband of almost 53 blessed years, Donnie Wilkerson; their children, Ray Wilkerson and Mary Alice Williams; grandchildren, Sarah Wilkerson, Carolyn Wilkerson Breanna (Lewis) Brantley, and Matt (Amy) Layton; great-grandchildren, MJ Layton, Hazel Layton, Aubry Brantley, Kaleigh Hester, and Kip Hester; brothers, James Walter Crowe and Roy Crowe; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
The family requests that, if anyone wishes to send flowers to Caroline’s service, please be sure to send her beloved yellow roses in tribute to her.
