Hello from Rutledge, Alabama, home of the World’s Largest Peanut Boil, which will be coming up before you know it. Also, upcoming is the Fourth of July parade in the town of Rutledge, Alabama. And yes, we are going to have a parade this year. We will have a planning meeting on 17 June 2021 at 5:30 PM at the Rutledge Community Center.

Throughout the past few months, I have been trying to keep you up to date on the status of Luverne Hardware, which is owned by Wayne and Vicki Rolling by the way, and when we would be reopening. Right this minute, the date is undetermined. We are trying to find store shelves, and that is proving to be difficult. With the Government paying people more to stay home than they made while working, the companies that make shelving are having a hard time finding help. Until then, we will start to carry things we know that you need, like pool chemicals, air filters and whatever else you need us to stock. Just let us know and we will have it here for you.

I was reading the news and I came across a piece about pay increases for congressional staffers. These people are whining, and yes they are whining because they were traumatized by two attacks on their workplace within months. One of the (people) from California said that a career in public service shouldn’t translate to unsustainable and unlivable low wages. Now keep in mind their median salary is in the $56,000 range. You have got to be kidding me. They are whining because of 2 attacks at their work within months of each other. The average annual salary for someone coming into the military to perform public service and defend our country is $25,000. If you end up in a war zone because of these career public service (people), you get attacked more than twice in a few months. There should be term limits for these people. If they can’t mess this country up enough in 8 or 12 years to satisfy their constituents, then they should be replaced by a new (person). If the President is limited to 8 years, congress and the senate should also be limited. And staffer’s should have to find a real job, or hey, if you want to do public service, join the military and see how much fun you can have. Anyway, that is my 2 cents. It just struck a nerve.

Also, as a reminder, it has been approximately 3700 days since the Delange Harris’s Murder and 1830 days since Mr. Earl Cosby was Murdered on 13 June 2016 and still no justice for the families. Someone knows something about both of these cases that could help solve them.
