The Brantley Bulldogs boys’ and girls’ varsity basketball teams showcased their dominance on Jan. 4 when they traveled to Opp to face off against the Bobcats and then again Friday as they hosted the Goshen Eagles.

Alex Grimes emerged as a standout player for the girls, scoring 36 points across the two games.

“During these two games, I was able to run the floor and use my speed in transition,” Grimes said. “I also think we played really good defense, which led to some early transition baskets. As a team, I think we ran our offense pretty well which led to some open three-point shots. Going forward, I hope our team can continue to get better and have a strong rest of the season.”

Girls’ Shine Against Bobcats
The Lady Bulldogs also secured a decisive victory against the Opp Bobcats, finishing with a score of 61-32. Alex Grimes emerged as a standout player, contributing 18 points, six rebounds, and four steals. CoCo Stamps made her presence felt with fourteen points and five steals, while Anna Parker Little added 11 points. The win elevated the girls’ team record to 6-4.

Bulldog boys come out on top
The Bulldogs boys’ team delivered a commanding performance against the Opp Bobcats, securing a resounding 66-46 victory on the road. Jayden Parks dominated the court with 26 points and 10 rebounds, adding five assists and three steals to his stat line.

Jon Harper Kilcrease contributed significantly, sinking five three-pointers and tallying 15 points. Daylan Davis showcased his all-around skills with ten points, 15 rebounds, four assists, and three blocks. The Bulldogs’ cohesive effort propelled them to a win, bringing their season record to 7-5.

Home Victories Against Goshen
Returning home to face the Goshen Eagles on Friday, both the boys and girls teams continued their winning streaks. The Lady Bulldogs secured a 47-19 win, with Alex Grimes again leading the charge, contributing 18 points, six rebounds, and four steals.

Meanwhile, the boys’ team continued their strong performance, securing a sharp 67-45 victory. Jayden Parks once again showcased his scoring prowess with 32 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Daylan Davis added 16 points and 15 rebounds to the mix. The boys’ team now boasts an 8-5 record for the season.

Milestone for Jayden Parks
The game against Goshen marked a significant milestone for Jayden Parks as he scored his 1,000th point of his prep basketball career. The achievement was celebrated with a special recognition before Friday’s game, highlighting Parks’ remarkable contributions to the team.

Head basketball coach and proud father, Andre Parks, expressed gratitude for the support his son received.

“They say it takes a village to raise a child,” Andre said. “and I just want to say thank you to my village. If you have watched, loved, or prayed for my child, thank you. It made me feel so good to see so many family and friends come out and support Jayden.”

Following Friday’s game, the Bulldogs will be on the road for four consecutive away games before hosting Houston County Jan. 18.
